You can do a fair bit with Virtools. We've done a few webgames in the past with it at work, and for prototyping some gameplay ideas it could be what you're looking for. Even I was able to get a characters racing around a track and I have no programming skill. We did a nice miniputt game at work with it a while ago..…
I agree. I feel like I'm leaning more towards the jump especially since it's something I haven't seen alot in racing renders, (whereas I've seen tons of drifting shots). I figure once I finish the hero car I can mock up a rudimentary section of track and compose some test shots to feel out both options.
Aaand here's the final. I tried to implement all the suggestions and remarks mentionned above, the most important one being to work fully zoomed out *at all times* during the design stage, without paying any attention to the way lines connect at the pixel level (because that's way beyond the accuracy range of tablets and…
I already stopped tracing when you said this the first time. I did study it... my mesh fro example got 2 loops less at the legs and also one less in the face. My topology is quite a bit different. As i said when you told me not to trace the first time, I loaded the picture on my second monitor and used my anatomic…
Here is a list of current issues with ray tracing that I encountered during my experiments: Volumetric fog: - Volumetric fog isn't visible in any ray tracing pass. - Ray traced shadows aren't working with volumetric fog, so when you have ray tracing shadows on, and you have volumetric fog in the scene, the fog doesn't have…
First, the things that won't require extra work * The stains are too uniform as previously mentioned * The stains aren't coming from anything, which would focus them in one or two places. * The ceiling over the track should carry through the support beams over the platform. * Lights generally run lengthwise, at the edge of…
It's not easy determining rates. I put lots of info on the wiki, but in the end you have to do the legwork to figure it out. You need experience, and be good about time tracking, to estimate how long it takes to do future things. You need to know what your monthly expenses are, so you're able to make a living wage. You…
i am having some problems with a shaking camera animating along a spline via WSM path deform. the problem is that the camera starts to shake(tiny little shakes) just after hitting an incline or a turn(in say....a race track). i'm sorry i can't post a video right now....but if anyone has had anything close to this…
For rigging, I was a bit lost at first. I had many questions, like: "Do I need to make my clothing parametric to fit onto a Metahuman?" "Do I just use the MH rig?" This would obviously involve a lot of work since I had created my clothing in an A pose that was different from the Metahuman one. I'm not sure how, but I…
Hi guys, I would need to build a shader on Maya that will allow me to visually check in the viewport if there are micro-variations in the height of the vertices, something like the VertexNormalWS node in UE. What I want to do is to avoid that within a mesh such as a road or a racing track there are areas of sudden height…
