Its coming along! I wouldn't worry too much about the smoothing on the vent pipe, its probably not unwrapped yet and the smoothing is breaking where the UV seams are, once its properly unwrapped it should be ok. Yea keeping to a grid is key. In max I snap each objects local pivot to the grid and then snap the tile edges to…
Hello everyone, I want to share a new tool I've been developing for some time now called VmBaker. It is a texture baking tool mainly targeted at game developers for making low-poly models - but it's really up to you how you want to use it. If you're tired of exporting models from Maya to Blender just to bake beveled edges,…
I see what you're saying, I've made a few models like that, but in this case I have to cut into the grid so that I can keep the curvature of the base object. If I do the sub-d technique I'm afraid of getting small variations in the surface from manually editing the verticies/faces. Sub division works well for the model in…
Hey everyone! Next to an Arstation Learning Course, I published this free PDF Guide that covers a lot of topics regarding teaching yourself 3D. I hope this will provide you with some ideas and insights to apply to your own journey. I wish you the best of luck! Get it here: artstn.co/m/W2GJ
Well, that sounds like the way I went about doing it. I started with a 20 sided circle whose radius fit snug in the grid in my scene as a guide. I'm looking into interesting ways I can take this concept.
I've been trying to learn how to texture, but I am not sure about what specific technique to use to realistic looking results. My current goto strategy for attempting to texture something is to try to make my own textures with filters or random brush strokes. This method works 15% of the time, though as most of the time my…
Hey all, I'm trying my hand at making stock game assets for devs to buy. I'm trying to find good guides and articles to get me familiar with the best methods and practices for preparing and selling assets for the best revenue. I'd appreciate tips as well. Actually I remember a cool article somewhere that had graphs that…
Hey guys, the producer from Introspect and myself (Student game project we completed a while back) were asked to write an article for Game Career Guide on small projects in indie developement. Don't know if anyone here would be interested in it, but if you are check it out, love to hear what yoyu think if you do read it.…
My Dell monitor only has a minor curve so it hasn't bothered me at all, and everything has grids and guides anyways. And I have retired the second monitor, so I'm just on the single ultrawide now and no looking back.
@oglu Baking didn't do what I wanted but I tweaked my region map again and I think my guides weren't working with each other properly so I think some more tweaking I'll get it looking better. When would baking the guides be particularly useful?
