When projecting normals, they get influenced by the location of your low polys vertices. So, if you want your normal map to be a bit more accurate you would add a loop at the horizon location of all of those nut floaters and then rebake, and they will come out good looking as their normals are pulled towards the new… -

the render is great man, if you are worried about, being able to handle more copies of the screw, I would have personally done the object with floater geometry with about 4 pieces, top, ridges in the middle, under side, and bottom area. That would have saved time probably too, but good job none the less -

if ur not gona scuplt this i suggest u to use planes to model this instead of cutting a cylinder. if i were to do it i would model out the details first and then try to connect the geometry together. OR you could use model out the details as floaters and use a deformer to match the shape of the door knob. hope this helps -

ya i haven't touched CB since ndo2 came out. ndo2 also changed workflow by huge extents, there are a ton of things i dont even bother doing in my highpolys anymore, and i pretty much stopped useing floaters, since i can just do that detail with ndo2 jsut as easily. -

Looking super great! Are you going to bake a lo-poly or stay in high? Rivets as floaters or some other method? Reads really well even at this early stage. The angles on the structure connecting the pontoons to the main plane body seem a bit too thick to me, but I'm not looking at your ref, so maybe I'm off. Cheers! -

Hi there again, just a little update. I've been busy working on replacing all of the floaters on the mesh(mainly the receiver), and add all of the holes. It's definitely a good bit of work. :) I've also been working on fattening my edges out so they aren't so tight, as well as doing some work on the muzzle break, and the… -

At least these methods came to my mind: - Modeled (or sculpted) in to the high poly - Floaters modeled on top of the high poly - Added in a regular PS or other image editing program after baking, such as Substance Painter/Designer or Quixel Suite (NDO) With the last method they're usually combined with the baked normals.… -

1.) download 2.) unzip with winrar 3.) put the "Max_Retopo.mse" file into any folder 4.) go to 3dsmax 5.) hit F11 (max script listener) 6.) go within that listener file > run script 7.) select that "Max_Retopo.mse" and hit open or run 8.) you should see the floater thats one way to do it -
