This is a thing I started sketching a while ago, it's been a sort of go to project to open up and push some polygons around when I don't want to deal with my "main" projects. It's a redesign of Corporal Hart from timesplitters 2 in a more modern / realistic style. I don't really do a lot of sci fi so this is a fun change…
Thanks for the update, nice work on the new foot. I can see how ai-gen tools can be attractive for the gee-whiz factor, how much it just goes ahead and fills in all the details automatically. But it’s unfortunately a very problematic process, encumbered by deep issues with morality. These models are trained on vast scraped…
Looking super cool! Love the shapes youre using and the compositions are really interesting. I do think one thing that stands out to me now is that your shots are looking very noisy, maybe the could use some areas of rest. using small detail in places where you want the viewer to be drawn to is a good technique to use to…
I wanted to share something I came across while looking at models and textures from Borderlands 2. There is a 3D model called WreckedVan that is used all over the game. It comes with a 2048 diffuse map and a second packed mask texture. The size might seem large for 2012 but given that it was standard practice to give…
Hi Guys I would like to know if there is any way to insert loops or edges into an already baked mesh without creating artifacts or drastic changes in normal? Thx!!! BugSeeker.
There is no straightforward looping in designer. Its disabled so that idiot users don't provoke infinite loops and explode their GPU. You have three options. Work out a way to reduce the node count - pack 2-4 iterations into a node and repeat that. You can quickly reach 32 like that Or Use automation toolkit to generate…
Hey, Polycount virgin here. Would just like feedback on my loops. I am pretty sure that the distribution of my polygons is too much based upon my perception of the body-shapes, and should be more evenly distributed. Also, I assume the slight spiraling I have from the torso side to the front of the legs is BAD, right?…
Found this again today, featuring some of the old crowd, and a bit of what Polycount used to look like, back in 2002 when we were all trying to figure out how to make normal maps https://ericchadwick.com/examples/files/polycount_2002_messageboard.html
