I was thinking in a similar direction ... I will try and "warp" some elements after I am done paiting in order to make the tower a bit more stylized. I was thinking of warping the roofs on all towers and maybe the balcony. I will also test your idea of making the midsection skinnier. Thanks!
ok guys im having problems with the Juggernaut smd file from the dota2 technical requirements web site for some reason they all of the elements of the model are in one file and i just need the back model what do i do link : http://media.steampowered.com/apps/dota2/workshop/juggernaut.zip
Alright, form the mega gnar concepts I really like the 4th one - nice readability, and form the gnar helmets probably 7. But I will recommend you to match some of the elements like the ears, the gauntlets might be similar but just smaller and simpler and etc. But great stuff so far pal!
I like no 2 and 4 the best, the orange of 2 reminds me of the film more though. The 4th one is just really atmospheric and cool. So maybe you can take elements of both and then up the contrast between lights and darks as well because it feels very evenly lit now.
It my not of been a super popular game but I liked the game EDEN for its music. It had good visuals but the music in the game is what got me playing it for awhile. The game play though wasn't great but I was able to get past that and still have fun with the other elements It had to offer :)
So I attempted these two images from imagination and eventually I just find that I hit a large wall when trying to come up with elements the fill a scene let alone make a scene in general. Is there any sort of excercise or thing I could do to try and strengthen this weakness
If you have Adblock, you can (IIRC) set rules and exceptions. So but Polycount to Unblock and then, set specific ads to block (like the Chevy ad). I think you can also Right-Click > Block the Flash that is bothering you, if you get the Adblock extension Element Helper, or so.
lov'n that 16. study. As an overall advice, I'd say try to use the graphical strength of your darkest values as a compositional element instead of as a space filler. Keep things a bit lighter (like 16) and push the critical areas darker. 14 is just ripe and ready for a few strokes of darker values.
It is appealing to me, although parts of it seem to be fighting for what the style is trying to be. some of the nice curve, smooth parts say sci-fi. some of the fan, pipe parts say steampunkish. I like both elements on their own, but im not sure if they are forming a cohesive whole. Hope this helps, props for the…
As Nosslak said, you need to build the walls with a stacked bond. But as it's modular you can also create wall pier or a stone column elements to snap between the walls and hide the half-blocks. This would also look more realistic as this is the way long walls with no perpendicular supporting walls are actually built.
