Hey, sorry this is bringing a dead thread up but I feel bad for not responding to it, I was only made aware by others that you guys had replied to it. @TemporalDrift, haha it must be a curse because I never completed it. By the looks of yours, you obviously went in with a heavier polycount, I tried to be as fruggle as…
Wow, thanks for all of the comments and critiques guys. I've been holding off replying until I tried to make some of the changes. I've changed it up a fair amount. Tell me what you think and keep the critiques coming. There's some already given I still plan to work with, but the more the better. Noritsune - Thanks for…
Changed the original image to include labels now, for simplicity's sake. Glad there's some interest :O :O Razia - Thanks for the kind words! Was hoping to offer up these concepts for anyone interested in taking on both the modeling and texturing end. I can provide a better paintover if that might help a bit more! Was it…
This Is A WIP I'm trying to recreate the conan the barbarian altantean sword as accurately as possible. Good high-res straight-on shots from the movie are hard to come by. Primarily, I used images of the albion swords replica (ref images can be found here), which I believe uses the original molds for the hilt and pommel.…
Textures can be improved and via the SW cannon this was originally Han Solo's personal weapon so presumably decades old but doesn't in my opinion read's as such?! the large grungy scratches in particular look too procedural lacking any noticeable variation plus high frequency 'metallic alloy' details aren't defined as they…
The robot can do the work but the robot can't have the idea or determine whether it's a good idea or not - this is objective fact when you're talking about the current generation of generative AI and will remain true until a genuine AGI exists and we all either get wiped out or no longer need to work. if your goal is to…
A lot of people use boolean workflow anyway these days or just replace normal maps with bevel modifier for the major bevels, then addional normal maps for the greebles. I am on board with what gnoop is saying here Even bevel shaders baked to hard edges can do a reasonable job, except for close ups maybe.
Ok so I've been modelling for several months in total, and in 3DS max since about October 2010 for my University Course. I've been in contact with another, helpful and kind PolyCount user (Polygoblin!) who has been urging me to post a W.I.P so as to gain the all important criticism from the oldest and wisest. He was asking…
Latest Shot (12/09/2013) Original Post Alright finally decided to start personal project and was busy with it for the past 3-4 weeks on my weekend and my free time after work on the weekdays. Set this project as a learning process of modo and UDK. I had a great time learning the software, even though UDK tutorials already…
