Sprunghunt - PES/FIFA/Madden/MLB/NFL don't have levels, do they? They have pitches/courts and teams. As I pointed out to Mop, racing games often use pre-existing tracks, which are not really levels. Semantics? Aye, very probably. In that case a level COULD POSSIBLY BE DEFINED as a discrete section that measures progress.…
Hey, Im currently working on an environment influenced by the upcoming game "Rage." Im lookin for crit, advice, pointers... anything. Also, the buildings in the background are not mine. They will be replaced soon enough. You may recognize some of these assets from my rubble thread:…
ohh that was awesome! thanks for doing it. The video format is great, i personally look on youtube FIRST when trying to track down a solution or tutorial or something. However there is a caveat that I've heard about that images are easier to share. weather its on pinterest, or just linking to a .gif. you don't need to have…
Thank you very much for your feedback! I really appreciate it! :) Unless this update on the face looks better, I'm gonna have to redo it I think, because I just feel stuck.. I brightened up the area around his eyes, added some rose color to his cheeks and smoother that whole area out, added some blue to his chin line and…
Will you get close to the rig? Or is it just a background piece? When I made some race tracks I used alpha decals of skid marks hovering about an inch over the surface to break up the pavement textures. They were also set to cull out from a distance. Maybe you can do something similar for the rust and wear streaks.
The 3 key equivalent to a Mesh > Smooth operation with 2 divisions. This will result in actually smoothing your mesh which can be transferred to game engines. Generally, throwing some smoothing operations on your model doesn't result in very optmized meshes for games though; except in certain situations like race tracks,…
You need to try charge around 30-50% more than what someone at your level would get annually. Remember that freelancing isn't permanent and you need to save, always have enough to live for 6 months or more without a job (even in the UK unless there is some kind of redundancy/pay out for them letting you go in your…
Hello polycount forums, So I'm trying to get back into the loop after practically giving up on art because of self doubt etc etc. ANYWHO I decided to sketch a troll since they're my favorite horde race. This was just a little warm up. I will try to post as much as I can during the week for the sake of tracking my…
The wood looks more like leather stripes to me (I found this page that could be useful to you for the bark: http://www.zerobigsis.com/hand-painted-textures-tutorial-page.html) The stones need some love for what concern color variation and details such as cracks. The biggest problem I see with the bricks instead is that you…
University project where we had to design and create a race track for a mobile game, I did a lot of the modelling and texturing. Everything is using a simple unlit shader plus some vertex colors, so no real time lights and normal/spec/emissive etc maps. I'm not too happy with it though, I think I could have done a better…
