Revisiting an older model of a stubby flintlock pistol. Goal is to have a nice low-poly model for handpainting :3 Here's my thread: Sylized Stubby Flintlock Pistol (WIP)
Most handpainted assets assume a point or direction light that comes from directly above, or "high noon" in terms of sun position. Handpainting assets is more or less just learning how to paint well. If you learn how to paint, you'll learn how to handpaint 3D models.
I disagree with this, if the OP is creating handpainted things. Perhaps im missing something, but handpainting textures in substance painter is\used to be a nightmare. 3D coat has a MUCH better hand painting feel. When that's said, I do all my work in Substance Painter, but thats because I do NOT work with handpainted…
I like the model, as for going for handpainted textures from what I understand you really dont need to use normal maps as your supposed to paint in all the lighting information, although im not entirely sure as I havnt tried to do handpainted textures myself. I would suggest taking a look at some of the handpainted models…
Hey! I have a website where I keep a collection of Handpainted Resources (https://handpaintersguild.wordpress.com/). It has a tutorials section (says which is free or paid), a pinterest of handpainted references organized by materials, or you can join the Handpainter's Guild Discord (http://bit.ly/HPG-Discord)and get some…
Hi guys, I keep learning about handpainted textures. I thought that to open this post would be a good idea in order to get opinions and feedback that will help me improve my skills. Right now, I'm focused on handpainting but, soon I will start sculpting in Zbrush as well. I will try to keep this updated. This time I made a…
Even normal mapped games use light informations on their textures, through baking point lights like dota2, or using green channels, or just having a mix of sculpt and handpainted textures. See it as enhanced readability, as long as it doesn't go against your lighting too much, which it doesn't if it's stuff like AO shadows…
Hello everyone! Here is my last 3D model, handpainted in zbrush. Visit my artstation and give a like if you like it, would be appreciated. Thanks! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nJG5We
@wirrexx You mean I wrote to you wirrexx. Yeah But remember that's my workflow, which is similar, but not the same! A more detailed description of faf's worklow is in Vertex 2. But if you just start out doing handpainted textures I would just start with fully handpainted textures, rather than using sculpts. When I started…
honestly, I used them before but if you take a look at the google image search result from "tile sampler + vector map", I don't think they are sufficient. The best result by far is Matthias's work: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4nKDn But it's still too easy to see the procedural stamping nature of it (compare to an…
