Heads up: had to open the mzp, extract Icons/***.bmp to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\UI_ln\Icons manually for it to start up.. goddamn Autodesk and their random path changery .. ;)
Unfortunately there is currently no way to export bitmaps without an alpha channel unless you use a format that doesn't support it, like bmp. It's on our short term task list.
Thanks Xoliul, makes more sense. The car, as you've seen in the bmw thread, is for my portfolio. I never thought of this. Using a mask for a shader. This sounds like a way to make multiple paint jobs if many copies of the car are to be on screen.
