Max is fine (if you aren't animator that is), in some limited ways it is even superior to Maya, but the question is: will Autodesk continue develop Max? Did you install the service pack? There is no need reporting bugs that have probably been fixed. 3DS Max 2012 was one of the buggiest releases of 3ds Max. The specular looks crips at and clear however I don't understand ... The diffuse looks washed out and grey, with very little contrast. Hey Kroma! Yeah the 4x4 hour slots are instruction, so a student is full on learning to use an app. In my case that is ZBrush or 3DSMax.
