Game Developer magazine has released their annual Game Career Guide and its priced just right for you... free. Some of the contents and wisdom of this edition is potentially redundant to a lot of you by virtue that you have found yourself here at the green and black. But, I honestly believe that you can't have too much…
Hello, often I struggle with the 3ds max snap option. For example: When I use snaps and I want to align eg. a vertex to the grid, I need to zoom in a lot so I can see the vertex and the gridline clearly. but then the gizmo is out of screen, so I cannot use the gizmo anymore. Sure I can use the working pivot point, but…
Hi! Could you attach this part? You write that only increasing the resolution has helped, so to me that would indicate you're limited by resolution here. I think UVs of those rounded elements not being aligned with the pixel grid will be always be a weak-spot. Options I see at this moment: Make UVs straight strips. And/ or…
@sacboi Thanks man! I use the native tools, instances and grid snaps mainly. The curved part was done with radial arrays and a bend for the floor. Very old school
Welcome! Overall it’s a really nice looking scene. :) One thing that stood out to me is the focal point. Right now, the bridge and the stone lantern both draw a similar amount of attention, so it’s a bit unclear where the viewer’s eye should settle first. You could maybe push one of them more as the primary focus, either…
KJ: Thanks for the cool ideas. I've been at a little bit of a road block when it comes to the scale of the trim. I am going to toy around with the idea to actually sink the player a little farther down into the ground and have another small set of trims that i will also use between the pillars and the BSP. For the floor, i…
Hi guys and gals, We just released a extensive guide on how to create high quality scanned materials using only a smartphone and a cheap light setup. You can find all the details over here! Let us know in the comments if you have any question or if you created a cool material using this technique!
Well. It doesn't need to be exact. you can manually move each vert with snap to grip. But I really don't get why you'd need to do it on a certain spot on a grid.
Hey guys, Back again with my second entry (and the only one I'll actually finish) and just wanting to get a thread rolling. I'll be using this little grim reaper character I worked with for a school production. Cute character and a fantastic rig so I'm pretty excited :)
Hi - this might be a bit of a long shot. I'm looking to get in contact with Mike and Bill Jukes, aka Brothers Grim. They made a bunch of awesome models for Quake 3 (amongst other things), and I am looking for their consent to repackage a particular set of work they did, but don't want to proceed without permission. Their…
