Don't render out your models man - if you don't have propper mentalRay/vray materials on them. Don't know for vray, but mentalRay just fucking slaughters normalmaps and handles specular very strange. Skip the render stage and just post UDK screens :)
Im intriqued on how they made mentalray take 28 minutes to render that shot, thats just silly. They seem to have focused on MR weak points (DOF) GPU accelerated Rasterizer Vs. Mentalrays + super expensive DOF. Its awesome but the comparison is pretty faulty
Anyone have a good subsurface scatter tutorial for maya mentalray. I'm thinking of buying the digital tutors guide as I couldn't find anything good online for free. I'm looking to apply a shader and ideally control the amount of translucency with a map, same as you would in a game, the whole red ears thing.
