Baking and Rendering in 3ds max

Thought this thread may be useful to some people who wish to get better bakes/renders in max :)

Over the years I have experimented with max and have come to a common ground where test settings allow a fast feedback with good enough quality to read errors. The production settings are at a point where if they were increased the result would be almost identical and so are efficient.

Included here are two zip files containing the following;

1. Render presets;
http://www.mediafire.com/file/drkjtwkuztq/Render presets.zip
1x MentalRay - test quality settings
1x MentalRay - production quality settings
1x Scanline - production quality settings

These files should be handy for baking and rendering low and high quality. *Scanline test settings not included as I feel the standard settings are fine for this anyway.

2. MentalRay studio;
http://www.mediafire.com/file/yzhz25dfgnm/Mental ray studio.zip
1x MentalRay production quality test scene - midday light settings
1x MentalRay production quality test scene - afternoon light settings

Settings have been extensively tweaked to allow semi-soft shadows and good quality bounced light while maintaining texture clarity. The midday scene shadows are sharper.

*No textures are included but the geometry and full light setup is.

Some renders of the studio here;

Hope these files are useful and if you guys test them please post some results here if you can :)
