Oh, but then we are talking about astronomically huge differences. Houdini is a modular software that is built from simulation and area recognition, everything in Houdini is modern and take a good lot of time to process due to it's power, there is no comparison between Maya and Houdini.

Most Houdini courses are bad. Here's a list of well-known good tutorials. Some of them old but still good and applicable because inner logic of Houdini are still the same.
