Working on a robot suit designed by a friend of mine, heavily inspired by Ironman. Here are the legs so far, still loops to smooth and snap to fit them perfectly. Holes will be covered by some kind of muscle-like wires(Like the ones at the Crysis Suit) I'ts my first work in a hard surface/subD model so critics are always…
Trying to push simplicity with these - seeing how much detail I can leave out and still have an appealing character. Ideally I want to have a bunch of different colored ones hanging out in a scene together a la Yoshis Story. And maybe make a few simple looping animations with em. Currently in the process of rigging. Any…
Hmm this was more of an experiment for me as i usually do normal maps :)) Anyway i just do the base mesh with clean well defined planes that are smooth grouped and after i get the shape done i start beveling and ading support loops. Nothing fancy really :)) Oh and i start removing the smoothing groups after i bevel.
Yeah its not really a process but cleaning up some of my old lazy. Parts of the model are smoothed in the stack twice, once by smoothing groups. This gives you great quick and dirty shape but can make angles a little sharp for the bake. I'll be dropping some of the subdivisions down a notch and replacing with edge loops if…
benji: thanks a lot for the help. I did a bunch of poly reducing in favor of baking parts on instead of having geo. I know I could take the reduction a bit further, but hopefully this will end up being a happy medium in terms of detail. Total tri count without the cord is 1,834 I'm gonna make cards to replace the cable…
I started this yesterday to learn some new hard surface sculpting techniques in Zbrush4 R2. I plan to add some wear and tear to give the sword some character. It took a little while to get the hang of controlling creasing ploy edges but once I got it I was flying, and Dynamesh is awesome :D Doing the armor in my portfolio…
@Uncle, BitGem and KyleJensen: Thanks a lot, guys. Much appreciated. @Skiffy: Thanks for pointing that out. I added some more loops to their wings and updated all the shots with a newer version. @SveinY: Thanks, man. I like the design of your ogre. Though I think he needs some color variation. Add some red tints to the…
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh5_T175TlY"]stormcloak wip2 - YouTube[/ame] character a tad of skyrim stormcloak-ish. gave up on the texturing for now, so it's mostly just normals and AO.. doing an animation I've had stuck in my head for a couple of years now.. its mostly good-ish up until he stops, then its just…
To expound on the new techniques I've learned? I really just learned, finally, how to use edge-creasing in Maya, and how to properly end edge-loops in highpoly models. Oh, and how to use the non-linear deformation tools in a more intuitive way. That, along with tons of other things I've picked up recently at polycount…
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Yn0OeE62So"]idle variation typ :) - YouTube[/ame] meh, just an idle variation that's prolly never gonna be used for this little thing that I'm working on.. finished it up tonight though, 8AM now.. might go to sleep :P youtube.com/watch?v=hTicnWbJVZA more looping shit.. running with…
