It just a bunch of coders sitting in a room playing around with some tech... thats it. Our Brisbane Start-Up dev team would love even half of that Government grant. lame.
But you know, its tough for their artist who is under such time constraints that he can only finish enough to fit a square, clearly has nothing to do with any tech-limitations.
Compression doesn't have to be lossy, and even better texture compressions (that compress 4 times more than DXT) have been developed. The one I am talking about comes from the Milo Kinect demonstrations. On a .pdf tech sheet for that game, they talked about a compression technique that they developed which was as good as…
Boob physics of course! That's the only way to measure how good this tech really is. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmtIopU7PM8[/ame] and the whole thread just went down the drain...:poly122:
I think maybe you don't understand how upcoming tessellation tech is going to work. It can take something from a flat plane to a rough cobblestone street. Hint: it's not just a meshsmooth.
Is it possible to integrate voxels into a polygon engine? That would make for some excellent foliage simulation. Also this guys is a huge ass. I want the tech to be real, but the PR so far screams vaporware.
Avoiding to answer direct questions and any criticism due to wanting more investors. They _are_ claiming that this is actually better than the tech that is currently out there, as they have been claiming for like 10 years.
Yes! None of what they're doing is illegal or fraudulent, just misleading. They don't need to have tech that really changes the 3d industry to make a profit, and they do need publicity to get a lot of funding.
Please try to understand that their tech approaches voxels differently than traditional methods. Until we know more about their approach then these conversations are pointless, because nether you nor I know for a fact if this is a hoax or not.
....like your consideration matters to the future of unlimited detail? Please....don't flatter yourself. What? Why? Last i checked it wasn't called free detail, you still need artists. There's this growing consensus that you must achieve the same level of detail as what was seen in the unlimited detail tech demo…
