The part of your armor that's supposed to be the darkest is actually way brighter than the wings base. The runes are smudgy, you may want to trade them for bigger, sherper runes, or remove them completely. And the window in the back is lowpoly for the rest of the armor. Of, and there's a window between the wings and your…
maybe your next courier can carry stuff in its beak - now i'm trying to make stuff that isn't just an extruded spline. just a paintover of the lowpoly right now. gonna try and sculpt it rather than using the normal map filter plugin thing.
The way I do it is manually export the high poly from sculptris as obj. Import it in blender and adjust the lowpoly with it or even make a low poly. Then I bake it over the low poly(withUVmaps) to get normals and AO maps in blender. Then do the rest of the textures in GIMP. hehe :)
That...that actually worked. Copy/Paste and you're done.. :D Thanks. And not that it's finally published, I really want to do it all again... There's still 100 tri's left to use in the lowpoly, and the textures were painted directly @256x256... Only now i realize what a terrible idea that was...
i work like this: polypaint on highres mesh using zapplink or spotlight, you need to sample a main colors from your hero. bake paint and cavity, occlusion maps to lowpoly combine them in photoshop using layers, softlight or multiply tweak colors a little, channels, etc.
@Kraken, love the bomb, is that front a little nod to the PC crowd? Got the lowpoly and test bakes all done, this is just a block in color. Going to move onto polypainting in zbrush, i tried it on my last few items and i really like that workflow. Final sculpt as well
@mihalceanu ehi man, you may be right with the shield... when I tested in engine yesterday was feeling a bit too deep. I think I will try to adjust the lowpoly so that the back of it is more concave and the arm can stick more in it. Thanks for the comment and nice Spear tip ;)
There is no way in hell that you can use anything like that, and i'm assuming you intended NURMS smoorhing, NURBS are actually curves that you can create surfaces with, but that would sound even weirder for something like Dota. The general process you have to follow for these objects is: 1)create and highpoly geometry,…
Shameless cross post from my thread but I finally got a full set in for the first time :) The Shadow King Would love feedback! I'm not entirely happy with how the shoulders turned out in lowpoly but at some point I just have to let this out into the wild. Hope you guys like it!
Speaking of LoD's, how do you guys go about doing the high to low bakes (those of you who do that) when you've got two lowpoly models? Since they would be using the same normal map if I'm not mistaken. It could just be me overcomplicating things in my head though.
