Hi, I think you're looking for this thread, it's a sticky in Technical Talk section: FAQ: How u model dem shapes? Hands-on mini-tuts for mechanical sub-d around page 37: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56014&page=37
Been busy with my college assignments had to make a mini cooper and a horse. Anyway, here's the updated UV for the cowboy. And how do you draw in photoshop? Do you use paint on 3d model for that? And are there any basic tuts for that so that i can get the hang of it?
Well, I did it in Modo, it was rather easy. Will post mini-tut for other people who may struggle with that after I'll do the same in 3d Max. I also learned how to arrange segments in a perfect cylinder because round ornaments require that. Will post it later too.
Great work, and thanks for the mini-tut. It's pretty much how I do it, except I don't have a render camera like that and a plane the size of the grid. Instead I just use a 2x2 meter plane and then render out the maps in Xnormal. Oh well, thanks for taking the time!
Sure (very nice mini tut btw ;) ) here is small chart and here are meshes: (weird is, for second bug you need to load (any) normal map into normal slot, otherwise problem wont occur, also marmo1 did this with same mesh) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62830198/forums/marmobug.rar
There are loads of different ways of making high poly text most starting with creating a text shape. Scott Homer put up a mini tut on how he does it in his Bioshock homage thread : http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97769&highlight=scotthomer That should give you a good start. Hope it helps
Haha, awesome. Yeah, I guess it's pretty straight forwards stuff but it did take a me a couple of hours to get it working exactly right. It was actually that EXACT video, two days ago, that inspired me to try this out. :D Thanks for the compliment. I'm thinking about doing a follow on mini-tut about animating MICs in…
Hey! I think this image might be a good hint to the solution. I would make a helix around a cylinder and then unwrap the polygons so of the helix so they are connected and straight. After that I would add the whole texture. I'll see if I can illustrate this better. Going to try an mini tut once I get some time. If someone…
