Here's the beginning of a skin for the AWP. The idea is to make it look like a sci-fi gun by giving it a paint job reminiscent of a sci-fi space station, and adding form shading details where possible. Inspiration: Initial sketch: Side projection:
Hi Finnn, Thanks for the info again. ok! This information would have helped in your initial post! I would do this as a layered material in 3d, using 3d procedurals. Apply that on a sphere that has a dual-paraboloid UV, to bake down into a bitmap. I did a similar thing with the planet in this, layering 3d procedurals and bitmaps, except baking the whole space…
i use both initially, decimate to a target count, optimize 90%, weld at a micro threshold to remove small things, give it a look over (delete incidental dynamesh pockets), then clean up as necessary while unwrapping; embracing that inner slug.
Day 71/180 (Topology): So, I started some research on using references in 3D modeling and I have learned a lot. I read some information that made me rethink my approach. The author said that for beginner artists, it’s best to stick to accurately recreating an existing object. Then, after a few projects, you’ll start…
I've done a bit more ready about this and feel a bit silly about my initial reaction. :) It's not like it was Autodesk giving the money. :P Now my question is ... only $30K? Ha ha! =)

You can find some of my work on my art station, but…
02/30 - Space Went for some kind of space rock, was initially inspired by mars rocks but then kinda just started doodling and went on a tangent. About 1 hour for this one!
Hope you enjoy!
