In the viewport the model looks fine (minus the really bright gamma of textures; if anyone knows how to fix that I'd be appreciative) but once I take a snap shot, the contrast is blown out. looked over Michael Orb Vicente's rendering guide and got my day 18 render! im pretty happy with it, but it's going to not be easy to go back and render all my other rocks. finding a good angle is 90% of the battle!
The less you render the better. The more times you keep rendering out video the more artifacts and compression show up. You should color correct while you are compositing to get the best quality out of the final render.

This looks great, I especially like your rendering, the beauty shot has so much atmosphere! What are you using for rendering? Marmoset? How much of the beautyshot is the actual render and how much did you tweak it afterwards?
maybe you should mention, that just rendered tris count for the 2048 limit. if a normal is pointing away, it's not rendered and therefore doesn't count. example: if you have a sphere with 100 tris, actually just around 50 to 60 a rendered.
the textures are pale, gray so is the rendering. The AO bake is also to obvious - there is to much gray scale noise in his face but first perhaps create a prober render and scene setup with 3 point light for example and FG renderer such as MR.
scoobydoofus: only when lots of light affect it, if its just one (say sun for the clouds) it should be no problem to render in one pass wondering what would "render elements" when rendering such a particle return ? cool idea with the lights.
Hello. I'm little confusin with using Arnold Render with XGen. In Preview/Output I have setup Arnold as default render. 1 Ask - When I render everything go through Arnold? 2 Ask - When I click button Tools - "Apply hair shader" - I dont get any shader in hypershade - is it normal?
