regardless of the technique the best thing you can do is stop drawing them as early as possible - if you concentrate on hiding the transition you can get away with a lot more. otherwise yeah - you're going to have to try a few techniques out and profile them
Hi I'm kinda new to UDK. I'm wondering how to start a new project and set up my save folders. I've tried searching on UDN but cant find what I'm looking for. I think I'm setting up things wrong as I cant drag my static meshes into my scene and can't save the .upk. So I'll tell you what I'm doing and someone can correct me.…

Welcome to Polycount! This is a sweet design, it's nice to see non-conventional mechanical designs like this. The biggest thing for me is how difficult it is to get a "read" on the shapes. I think this happens because the materials are all very similar across the whole asset, so it's difficult for the eye to parse what the…

I tried it once a long time ago, but the predatory royalty rates turned me off and there was nowhere near enough traffic to justify it. Them selling assets to AI scrapers just makes it worse. The only money that could justify helping people put me out of the job would be enough for me to never need to work again. And even…

This is my blockout so far :D Edit:I have finished the high poly. I don't think I will make a pass on zbrush, the subd model looks good enough for the bake. What do you guys think?
Can i stretch these two UV shell which has the same vertex count, into square shape (or other shapes but the two have to be the same shape) and stacking them, occupying exactly the same UV space on every vertex? I want to save texture space on a long blobly object. this is just an example, but the real object will have…
