Very cool! i think the bloom is a little much, otherwise the only thing is, a few errors on the black fur near the tips of those sharp triangle pieces. COol stuff!
The main things to look out for are: good silhouette, no shading errors, avoid thin/long tris(as Steppenwolf mentioned) Also, keeping the topo UVunwrap friendly is always going to be useful.
That file size seems excessive, I don't have a solution for you other than for you to try some trial and error. Is the file type seemingly tied mainly to the polycount?

This looks to be under 3dsmax, you know upon the first moments of unwrapping the islands turnning red is a give away that something is overlapping. Make a test first and look for errors or weirdness.
Okay..its fixed...thanks guys....Apparently its the damn Gamma/LUT thats causing the error on the bake. I rebaked everything with it turned off, and voila, problem solved.
Interesting, that would definitely cause an issue. 3DO is not friendly to mesh errors, but this is the first time I've ever seen something like this pop up. Thanks for reporting, and happy texturing! :)
