I love the way this is rendered the armor ha a really cool spherical form to it and its done in unique way that separates it from the average mecha stuff. The only thing that's bothering me is it doesn't seem clear what the function of the stuff on his shoulder is.

Thats super cool that you have zbrush in mind- 4R7 really has some great features for enviroment creation with the nano mesh and aray mesh functions. Another question. I use Octane render. Is there a plan to make a calibration profile for Octane?
Yes, the example looks like it was defo modeled low and subdivided. As for Max'so retop tools(freeform) in combo with the traditional toolset: hard to beat. And there is also the Wrapit plugin(not sure if it's still actively developed) which add great functionality for retop hard surface.
odd that it would not. as i was attempting it zbrush told me when i hit grouploops that part of the mesh needed to be hidden in order to perform that function. which is odd because i remember in the hard surface zbrush eat3d dvd that it was just done with no problem.
I face the same problem, so far I've found Paint Tool Sai to be the best option. With Sai you still have to draw in your perspective lines, but it's vector tools are a lot easier to use and more functional than the ones in Photoshop.
Theres not really much in it hardware wise, so you should be OK - however I would advise building this directly in the Unity iPhone engine, not the Unity engine, otherwise you will in for a serious shock. (lots of Unity functions are simply not available between the engines)

Bryan, I seem to keep coming back to needing this solution, and there are often duplicate materials in my scenes. If you have time, I'd be very grateful if you would add this functionality to your script. Again, thank you for your awesomeness :D
