Can you provide texture sheets and sizes for us to crit on? From my standpoint I can provide the following crits. 1) Light cast from Bulb - the lighting that is cast from the bulb is not present enough. Currently you have a very subtle shadow that has no strong direction so introduces a more global ambient feel to the…
Ok, this may start a firestorm... My wife works for immigration. Fact: You can become a citizen and get social security, without ever putting one penny into it. (I won't have any Social Security when I get older, why should a senior immigrant get anything when they didn't put anything into it, when I have for over 20 years…
Hello, Well, the upgrade to Maxon 2022 (permanent) from an older version comes for free. It is done through their license conversion process. The page states that it converts to 2021, but it is actually 2022. The very annoying thing imho is that it puts anyone currently using an older version in the precarious situation of…
End-of-year update :) Small update to wrap up the year. Over the past weeks I’ve been pushing this scene out of early blockout and into a final graybox / art blockout stage. The overall layout and vertical flow are now largely locked, and I’ve started replacing primitives with my own modular meshes from Blender to properly…
A few things; think about the shape and weight of objects.... that mug could be way cooler with a fat bottom and a skinny top... give it bottom weight and make if feel more balanced and stronger. Your gems are super dull, (highlights/darks) there is no thickness to the brass, or the shield, (add geo) the line work around…
Hey everyone, It's been awhile since visiting these forums and it's the first time I'll be contributing anything, in the past it's just been browsing other peoples work and doing the odd bit of mod team recruitment. Anyway, I've just started a games development course at university and one of our classes involves using the…
https://twitter.com/RagingSpaniard/status/1126276538586910720 Been meaning to return to polycount for a while, this project is getting pretty big so I thought this was good timing  CT is my favorite game of all time, that's not novel or anything. I think it perfectly achieves everything it sets out to do and I've…
For this particular case Arnold would be best option, it's fast in outdoor, has probably best SSS shader and very fast hair (faster that Vray/MR). Also amazing volume light shader for creepy atmosphere. You don't need to make zillion of test renders, just start IPR/render region and it updates interactively as you tweak…
Your first fx is great; the timing on it is solid. I would add more colors to it so it's not so monotoned. The second fx is happening too fast. I would add some drag to the begging, show it open its wings when it spawns, then have it fly super fast so you can see the bird better. Also, make this video bigger! Can't see…
5820 for sure, 5930 is only marginally (4%) faster but 1.5x as expensive. Also the 5820 is SUPER FAST so fast that you won't even stress all cores of your cpu most of the time (only when baking/doing cpu based rendering), anything beyond a 5820 is overkill/throwing your money away unless you do cpu based rendering all day…
