Hey guys.. Here's my thread for my Promotional Posters... I know this isn't game art, but It has 3D elements, and I'm seeking critique. I'm promoting my school and ultimately the Entertainment department of the school.. which games totally apply.. any suggestions, critiques and ideas to make it better would be very…
Latest: Original Post: I'm going for an overgrown jungle temple with lots of hanging vines and foliage. I also want to incorporate gold elements for nice material contrasts. Not certain of how I'm going to lay everything out, but largest image on my ref board is the "feel" I want to accomplish.
Just wanted to say hi and good luck to everyone! This contest has been a great learning experience so far and has been really pushing me to think deeply about every element that needs to be designed. No matter the end result I am very glad I have participated in this. :)
For the prop I'm working on now, I wanted to render in Unreal, and also get some of the graphical elements animating. I wanted to make the two screens on this handheld animate. The middle touchpad section I wanted to act like an e-ink screen to display more data. None of these are interactive, just animated for show.…
Don't eyeball proportions. Use the shape of the eye, at least, to measure how many "eyes" away somethig is from another element. The head is X eyes long, the lips are Y eyes wide, etc. Professionals still measure. Or, they should be measuring still/
Just a quick comparison between what you'd generated so far and linked workflow, I'd probably recommend following your own advice plus think about adding something unique to the project which perhaps is the missing element you're searching for?!
if i want to aim for hyper realism then it needs to be done as it is in real world, combination of sculpting and modeling, with more subtools/elements separated.......otherwise if i want it for some low poly video game it can be done by modeling and then texturing, baking in substance painter.
Pick a really cool environment concept art and try making that. I think the lakeside cabin was too ambitious. With a good concept art piece you can sort of estimate how long it would take you by breaking down the elements in the scene.
@ ghaztehschmexeh: Tried that and it doesn't fix it. That panel seems to only allow you to select certain elements from your scene at a time. (Geo lets you select only geo, lights let you select only lights, etc) Thanks though.
quick question, I uvw mapped the treads on the tank to be on a separate texture map. When I import the tank into marmoset and I apply the tanks material to the tank it applies to the treads as well. Is there away to import 2 texture maps for 2 elements on a model?
