made a new stripe mask map. I used polypaint in Zbrush to get everything lined up nicely. I made a few little adjustments to the texture...thinking I'm mostly done with the bike I started messing around with decals. I'm thinking that I'll have geometry overlayed on the areas of the bike where I want decals, and I'll make a…
Most meaningful Substance soft is Painter probably . Still I have an issue with it and I broke my head already trying to find a workaround. How can I make it work same way Pattern Preview works in Photoshop? or freeform transform in Quixel Mixer ? I mean to have this star "decal" appear on opposite page side? I use pattern…
Hey everyone! I'm frankly astonished by how many pluses this small environment has received. You made my day.Thank you! Hope I can push it a little further. I haven't had much spare time recently, but I made some changes and here they are: || I'll replace the leaves hanging off the sides with ivy or something similar. The…
Speaking objectively it all comes down to what you do with the Substance suite. In my case i pratically never use Designer so i won't talk about it. For Painter i have a huge library of materials and smart materials so my usual workflow is: import the mesh---> bake---> apply materials---> tweak them---> paint details if…
I wasted a decade of my younger years on this during my art school time. Did ones dozens of sketches each day . My graduate work was a collective portrait of my friends . Your squint point is very right? A feel of a mass I would say. But decades later I can say it's not a very useful skill or competitive advantage . Nobody…
Xoliul, a note for the lighting issue with foliage as well. This is another method I use that works well for me with lighting vegetation. When you place your decals the normals are perpendicular by default and thus can cause lighting to affect it at undesirable times. If a decal is placed on the ground perpendicular, you…
Hey Guys! Ive recently had the idea of creating a large scale advanced character editor, that would produce game ready playable game characters, and would be used as a dev tool to help character artists create realistic 3d characters, I was wondering if anyone would give me ideas that I might could add to my currently…
Apologies to the mods if this is too text or image heavy! 1. Model your character. For this exercise I found some excellent 'turnaround' images, so I recommend you Google image search your character + turnaround. When you're modeling you'll have to model in the partitions for the toon shader colors. For example, Superman's…
More progress, I’m planning on using decals to break down the wall and the floor a little bit more, as well as further set dress the scene with existing props. i will also add content to some computer screens. Any additional feedback will be greatly appreciated!
Another option, especially if it isn't in UDk, make a decal plane. UDk can project decals, so make a decal material therefore. But a decal would be more ideal in the long run - keeps things as separates so more combinations.
