I downloaded a free model of some hair, to see if I can get the gist of how to make it myself, but when I opened up the model, theres practically billions of double faces, or overlapping normals (whatever the term is). How would I go about deleting those faces in a way that wouldn't take around 24 years? I have a plugin or…
My room mate just told me about this German site, it's in English, were you can create your own site on the fly, on the web. It's actually really nice. I just tested the free version witch have some limitations. But it's insanly cheap. 5€ /month. That's 60€ a year. And that's with a domain name. Very easy to create a nice…
Eric, i'd like to sugest something. Why not implement something like a image size cap of 1-2mb max per image as a pre requisite to actually post a reply? Something correlated happens at the WAYWO, but as a rule. And as seen daily a lot of people infringe it. But with a file cap as a site feature stuff like this will never…
PogoP, as I can see, you want to optimize these buildings for Nintendo DS... :) You could easily break up the entire texture in many smaller textures, in order to make them tileable. Since there isn't much color in every texture, you should use only 16 colors when you export them. In this way, their size in kb will be near…
By the way - the "after looking at your code" wasn't intended as an insult or looking down on your code or anything. I was just saying I could see that it didn't have an SWF being loaded into the site. Hehe, thanks :-) I'm just not sure you'll be able to make the images appear on the right side of the screen like his site…
Hi guys! I haven't really posted much on Polycount because I've just been a student observing all the great artwork put on here and want to learn from it, but I figured it's about time that I start attempting to make cool stuff myself. I came across a really great concept artist on DeviantArt who goes by cgfelker (It's…
When I look at most tutorials on texturing, the focus is mostly on technical things like unwrapping UVs, creating brush presets etc. There seems to be very little attention give to actually exploring how color and light interact and are communicated through texturing. Are there any resources that deal with this subject…
Your texture could be a single side of the crate and you would arrange each UV shell to use 100% of the texture. In 3dsmax you click on each face, then click "quick planar map". There are 5-6 other ways to do it but that's probably the easiest. If you're using maya there are similar functions, but I don't have it installed…
Looks good, Lonewolf. Some really great pieces. It doesn't matter what screen resolution people are using. A lot of people don't maximize their browser window while browsing, so making a website 1300px wide is really only accommodating to people who have 1680x1050+ screen resolutions with their browser windows almost…
www.matt-taylor.net I think all the links work. The images on each models page arnt sized correctly with this build of the site. I'll get on that tomorrow. Im gonna get some more media up there and add the animation page tomorrow as well, but I just wanted to get your opinion on the design so far. Give it hell Everybody:)…
