You are welcome, have fun. I use a modified Windows 7 classic theme when working with Maya. Take this code, save as 'My Classic (Dark).theme' and copy to '~User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes' I think it wont work for Win8 or Win10. As far as I know, there isn't a way to ignore objects that are behind other objects... You probably set your gizmo to Screen or view? Set it "World" and it will remain constant to the world axis.
