Sometimes slapping an Edit Mesh ontop of your Editable Poly, collapsing, and collapsing again to an Edit Poly can also sort out wonky mesh errors in Max..
First low poly in UDK. Quite a few baking errors and a big seam. Couple more rebakes and then starting on the texture, wire coming next post! 13k tris:
That can get you errors on the baking stage and also ingame. It's really recommended that you move them 1 space. All Valve models with something mirrored are like that.
@matt luxton: and the "cleaner" part comes from less possibility of errors in the Normal Map, less breaks in the UVs, meaning higher quality bakes and a better workflow overall.
Is the front of that box sharing the same smoothing groups as the side? It looks like just a smoothing error to me. Split the smoothing groups at 90 degree angles as well as the UVs.
*Pixel* padding. Sry...When the edge pixels are extended out. When you don't have this, then you'll get such seam line errors once the texture gets mipped.
I'm getting a startup error saying that it can't find the Cryengine path from the registry - does the program need to be installed in a special place relative to the Cryengine folder for it to work?
Sandy, Mansonjrancourt: thank you, guys! After some try and errors, I finaly have blockout of his outfit. All in one it was a very productive weekend for me.
