I think you are asking for a bit too much :) This is something very specific that doesn't come up very often. But there is nothing hard in this. Imagine you have the highpoly balls, and the lowpoly only has the outer cylinder. You bake the balls to the lowpoly cylinder. done.
Hey Guys :) im creating another gun^^ But this time i wanna try out a workflow, where i just create a boolean mesh inside maya and use dynamesh + polish in Zbrush to get to my highpoly :D So lets give it a try ^^ Here is what i have so far: The Blockout:
bringing this guy back from the dead. calling the highpoly done. There are a few places where it departs a bit from the reference. I've decided to accept this and move on with my life in the interest of getting it done. and here it is exploded (and with the most worthless wireframe you're ever likely to see)
Here are more screens. Here is my workflow, i dont know waht is wrong. I learnt it on Digital Tutors. Blockout - HighPoly - LowPoly - UVunvrap LowPoly - Bake HP/LP phase - Texturing. For now i can proceed to texturing because of baking part.
Hey @Gazu , thanks I really appreciate that!:) At the beginning this was also my idea, but then I thought, because the highpoly part is already very big rather to make two different parts. But acually I dont know, thats why I am asking xD
Thanks man, your Ferrari looks super clean though  There's not much difference to the first images, but the highpoly is 99% finished here. I'm just waiting on some photos of his nametag, otherwise I can start producing the lowpoly now. And here are the wires:
well i just split up the object in multiple objects for baking and recomposite in photoshop. That way i can have full AO from highpoly which is a bit difficult if the mesh is exploded. I guess you guys are combining High and Lowpoly AO to counteract this?
my advice? get rid of the blog. put up an actual portfolio. and post some FINISHED work. not just renders of highpoly models with a skylight. get the actual finished, textured lowpoly work in there. if they didn't teach you that in your BFA, you got ripped off.
Worked on the highpoly some more. Tweaked lines in the garment and the face. Feeling a little better about this one. Feels like the expression is there and it could be pulled out further in color. Gotta do some additional hair cards and I should probably start painting already.
Necrothread this TWICE? Why not! Gonna try to actually finish this one off now in the spirit of mental peace! Have grown to hate many things in the design but im just gonna power through it and finish it off and slap some quick autotexturing on the highpoly and render out :)
