Wow first time I see such message. Does your mask1 and mask2 files are 32bit RGBA images? Other than that maybe try to change the name of your testing item for something simple like ember_test_01. Do you also have your dota2 fully updated? Also you could try to import your mesh from smd or fbx and see if one will work,…
Yep, when you factor in texture compression, you get absolutely no memory savings unless you can pack 3 greyscale images into 1 24bit image 1 32bit image (RGB+A) = same size compressed as 2 24 bit images (RGB, RGB) So you lose out on specular color for no gain. Its better to use Full color spec with gloss in the alpha,…
First off, thanks a lot for the advice, it helped a lot! I've prioritized the display quality a little more, and the result was more than disillusioning: None of the displays of the laptops below 1.000 Euro was truly qualified for professional CG work. This is scary though, because now I might have to consider increasing…
update: I set myself a limit of one roughly one work day for the model (approx. 10 hours) and another 2,5 for unwrapping. Like I said it´s the first time in three years so I´m S L O W. Anyways...It stands at 3215 tris and is fully uvw mapped. Why only 3200 insetad of 4000? Well, Facial animation beyond basic mimic is not…

Start ZBrush and then load the text file by pressing the Load button in the ZScript palette and select the file from the ZPlugs64 folder. You only need to do this once. ZBrush will create a ZSC file at the same location…
the issue is can i learn that in a couple of weeks time? there is Mudbox, I still cant grasp my way around it, wondering if zbrush or sculptris are any better? my no. 1 choice right now is photoshop because i at least got experience with it. And what would be the fastest workflow? like what are the steps most people take…
Sorry to be blunt - it's monday ;) - the UV's created with flatten mapping are garbage. Take your lightmap uv set and stitch as mean pieces together as you can. The less islands / chunks / sections etc the better. And unlike your texture uv set, the same rules about scaling, stretching etc do not apply to lightmaps. So…
