Hi :) I use Mixer for simple texturing tasks. After having updated to the newest version, I noticed that after working on a file for some time (variable) layers don't update anymore/ the rendered result doesn't change when I make changes to a layer. For example when switching the visibility of an layer off, the layers…
Kain, Actually procedural textures are great for characters. Beards, dynamic player controlled skin tones or entire skin shaders. You could make a 'dirt' texture layer that is dynamically grimed up if the player walks through mud, and conversely washes off in the rain. We are using a procedural layer for wetness on our…
A detail normal map is the fancy version, some people go the grey scale multiply route because it costs more to render the detail normal, or so I have been told by my rendering engineer. An interesting topic, I've noticed all the modern fps games have moved away from detail textures in favour of higher res diffuse textures…
Hi! I am a noob with UE4 but I got an idea stuck in my head and wanted to see if it was possible. My goal is to create a Creature Creator where the user cycles through markings and can add at least one marking on top of the base material and then change the colour of that marking. i.e. giving the creature stripes and…
So i've been setting up my material layers in UE4 for my scene and I want to use vertex painting to paint on moss instead of masking it so i can have more control and make adjustments on the fly. The problem is i cant get vertex painting to work, right now i have it in a blend layer because doing it from the material…
Increasingly I work with multiple texture layers in photoshop..layers for diffuse, specular, normals etc. I would love to be able to use some tools on multiple layers at the same time. The most common use would be fixing seams on tiling textures using clone tools. Right now I end up fixing each layer seperately, which…
I'm a bit frustrated... I'm at the final stage of my model and have run into a stupidly annoying issue. I'm trying to use the layers that I have created with various facial movement to create a facial expression for a pose. I have a few different facial movements on 4 different layers, and then my base polypaint color on…
create a new layer select BOTH, new layer and your "blend if" layer ctrl+e then i guess you know how to create a mask from it mmh it works for "this layer" but not for underlying layer
Hi guys, when I use the 2d paint tool on a new layer to scribble over an object on another layer it switches to that layer rather than having the scribbles stay on the layer I had originally selected for the exact intention to stay separate.. Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix this annoyance? thanks
I might be ancient, but I'm still using 4R6. Buttons to toggle recording or visibility off/on for layers is greyed out when on a lower sub-d level, so I can't even turn off or on any layers like you just did. That's why I've never encountered this issue. Anyway, another thing I've noticed is if I delete a layer when not…
