I just want to bump this and say I've had many MASSIVE SLOW DOWNS (I'm caps-locking it to really emphasize the situation.) alone from painting on 2k textures. With "Shader parameters" set to "low". What I typically do is, create a fill layer, and apply a black mask to that fill layer. Then brush in what I want visible. How…
Hello. Best of luck with your project. In that hallway concept, if all the robots are to have the same size then I think the
perspective is off. EDIT: With the yellow rectangles representing the correct robot height at different points in the scene. If you want to study more perspective, I highly recommend these two…
Thanks! In armor textures I made bump with mix of grunge and some brushes (only for height to simulate hand paint effect). All scratches are made with anchor points (3 materials: paint, grunt, metal).

I fill the object with a material and start…
I think the point crasong is making is that the guys who made power of paint were hired by valve and are working on portal 2, incorperating the paint mechanic from that game. Valve have their eye on the ball!
Updated the lighting to get a better feel of the textures, hopefully I can finish the scene before the month is over :S. @antonyj Good job on those props! I think you should try to make the textures on your props match a little bit more so they seem like they belong in the same scene, on the first one you have some…
I'll breakdown my critique into dot points: - scratch details are looking good. - Some of your normals are to big (Bigger details on the brown but smaller on the red) - Its appears to be a red painted barrel so I assume the brown is rust? but it does not look like rust and seems your relying to much on your normals for…
