I have been seeing a bunch of people building modular buildings and large structures out of a bunch of smaller pieces and assembling them inside a game engine. I understand that is offer a high level of quick customization but I am curious if it is the most efficient way of doing things. You can quickly get a high number…

Hey guys, not done yet, but I'm an impatient whiner-baby so I am posting some WIP shots. Basically, I am going through some simple RGBA texturing, and a basic directional light, using the Torque Game Engine (kinda old school); writing down my process and reasoning as I go. The purpose of this tutorial will be to show the…
Most of the things that people want in a mmo that isn't in wow, isn't in wow for a reason. Because most of these things are what most people do not want. The numbers speak for themselves really. Anyone who talks about levels or levelling in a western mmo isn't a hardcore player. And for eastern mmos there usually isn't…
Hey. What a great guide! Thanks for that. =) I just cant understand one thing. After I create APEX clothe in 3ds max 2014, I export fbx file and import to my UE4 project. And somehow, a material is missing. O_o The following image show on the left the existence of an option to add material, on the right nothing, LODO No…
I'm really glad I watched this movie, it made me feel so much better knowing that other devs out there are going through similar experiences and connecting with the sacrifices they've made for the hopes of tomorrow. It's a lot harder career choice than the average person imagines lol. Still worth it I'd say :D There are…

hey, i got a question. You said the idea is to keep the modular pieces down to a minimum. So if your building a modular set. You have everything at a certain scale right? So you can put it together yourself like lego pieces. The thing i'm wondering is that, isn't it hard to put it exactly where you want? Especially the…
Thx Herman. @Quack and Bardler- Keyshot is easy to learn, fast to render. Havent got too deep with it, but really impressive so far. Highly recommend it. Keyshot for highpoly and Marmoset for low. that is really all I need for personal. Thanks Paul-about 10 days, majority of the time is spend building the modular/lego…
Pogo!! That rules man! One thing you can definitely do to improve this is to bake ambient occlusion to vertex colors. Maybe even better, you can go and add gradients by hand. Radiosity alone probably won't give stellar results because you don't have enough tris. I worked on a similar scene as this while @ Ubisoft (you can…
