Yeah, just apply, get the experience. It's definitely much better if it's a position, studio, or field you're really into. If it's relevant to games, or 3D, doesn't hurt to still apply.
Just find studio contact details and apply. It's not like they are going to be offended if you apply and they don't have an opening. Stop being timid, be a bold & spicy centaur.
The top image shows the normal map, and the normal map applied to the object. The flat looks fine, but when applied to the object it looks messed up on 1 side.

So how would you apply that to a panner or rotator, Can't I just plug my material function in to some-kind of placeholder node. Then just apply those qualities to that.
cool, glad it helped. you mean the red one? well i applied a shell modifier to the translucent plastic cover. could be, that i accidentally applied it also to the red box.
It's also good to set a morph target before you apply the alpha, so you can quickly add variation and wear to sections of the applied alpha just with the morph brush.
