ANIMATOR
We are currently looking for a full-time Animator. Join the Cryptic team where you can influence and illustrate a fanciful universe that will be recreated in three dimensions for console and PC platforms, in an environment that allows your art skills to flourish. If you have the skills to create fun and appealing animations and a thorough understanding of animation fundamentals, you could help shape the Cryptic universe.

Every day you could be:
* Creating appealing animation content.
* Learning new tools and processes, such as basic level scripting required for our sequencer system and new software packages.
* Developing new animation rigs when necessary, with a basic understanding of related features such as constraints, wiring, Ik Chains, etc.
* Utilizing proprietary animation-related features such as blending, fx skeletons and the sequencer as integral tools in the development of assets.
* Defining character personality based on fluid motion, organic movement and storytelling through animation.
What we'd like to see:
* A complete knowledge and understanding of animation theory and the importance of posing and contrasts.
* Two to five years of experience in game development.
* Three to five years experience with 3D Studio Max, Maya, XSI or other 3D software with a focus on animation.
* Two to eight game titles shipped.
* Previous experience managing a small team, including daily knowledge of direct reports' tasks, objectives and accomplishments and the ability to gauge team members' skill sets and cater to their strengths and weaknesses.
* A strong portfolio, demo reel or web site with high-quality art renderings.
* Experience scripting in Max or Maya is a plus.
Your portfolio should contain:
* A minimum of 12 pieces of 3D art, showing wireframe and texture maps if applying for a modeling position, and full range of motion for animation positions.
* All work shown must be in a final state. Works in progress are acceptable only if the minimum amount of pieces has been satisfied.
* All work should reflect the position you are applying for
CHARACTER ARTIST
Cryptic Studios is looking for a talented Character Artist with the ability to consistently create compelling and aesthetically pleasing characters and creatures in any given style while adhering to polygon and console memory budget constraints. As a character artist, you will be creating high-quality 3D art assets using Photoshop and 3D Studio Max. A Character Artist at Cryptic Studios must understand the importance and role of character and creature art with respect to overall game play, player flow, environmental immersion, navigation and travel/movement ability.

EVERYDAY YOU COULD BE:
* Realizing the overall artistic vision of characters/creatures based on designs, concepts or descriptions.
* Working in a team environment developing NextGen titles for console and PC.
* Using 3D Studio Max, Photoshop and proprietary software to create Next Gen art assets.
* Creating and troubleshooting art assets (basic to intermediate level of complexity).
* Finding internal and external references for in game assets.
* Attending art reviews and team meetings.
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE:
* 2-5 years in game development.
* 2-5 game titles shipped.
* 2-5 years experience with 3D Studios Max, Maya, XSI, or other 3D software with a focus on character modeling.
* 2-5 years experience with Adobe Photoshop in a Windows-based environment.
* Experience creating both high and low polygon character models.
* Proven ability to realize the overall artistic vision of characters/creatures based on designs, concepts or descriptions using 3D software (3DSMAX, Maya, XSI etc).
* Knowledge of color, lighting and composition.
* Be skilled at modeling characters/creatures with or without concepts/designs, and display good modeling techniques and practices.
* Demonstrated ability to consistently create compelling and aesthetically pleasing characters and creatures in any given style while adhering to polygon and console memory budget constraints.
* Demonstrated skills in solid, efficient UV unwrapping and mapping skills.
* Strong understanding character development, anatomical proportions, and physiology.
* Show willingness and aptitude to learn new techniques, best practices, etc.
* Strong portfolio, demo reel or web site demonstrating high quality art renderings.
YOUR PORTFOLIO SHOULD CONTAIN:
* A minimum of 10 pieces of 3D art showing wire frame and texture maps if applying for a modeling position.
* All work shown must be in a final state, work in progress is only acceptable if the minimum amount of pieces have been satisfied.
* All work should reflect the position that you are applying for.
