I'll second the Monster Hunter artbooks. They are amazing, the last 1/3 of the pages are a straight up compendium of artwork. Anything by Ballistic publishing or Digital Art Masters, are printed gold. The How to train your dragon artbooks are also gold. The second book shows some of the breakdowns of the environment art…
Hey welcome to the digital sketchbooks germophobic! I like what I see so far, You can do a ton with that t-rex depending on what style you're shooting for, and by the looks of it you got some good anatomy going. Hope to see some really awesome stuff from you.
jfeez@ Thanks for the advice, I'm watching digital tutors tutorials and will definitely check out the survival guide and thanks for the link it's very helpful. @anthonymcgrath - I can see how bad it is now, I'm going do some 2D studies and get try again. I'll look into that book as well, thanks.
When the majority of your customers change, you would do better to acknowledge that. If they make their living from the digital content creation industry, they should cater to them and not the few enthusiasts doing scary bad stuf in their app. Or is it only good to have leading studios as their customers when they want to…
Hi guys, I'm really interested in a collaboration for this unofficial project! I am a modeler and digital sculptor, so i can provide all kinds of modeling and also high resolution sculpts for normal maps, if you want you can take a look at my portfolio going: http://vimeo.com/17406165 :)
Beowulf- Yea I usually draw with the whole of my arm when I work in pencils, I need to translate that into my digital work. Also good point about the face ratios, I usually draw the forehead too tall, been trying to eliminate that for the past 2 weeks. thanks for the comments.
Haha i had to google to find out who that was but darn that's a funny coincidence haha. No i was doing Speed sculpting a cartoon head on Digital Tutor. It follows a concept drawing from Dean Yeagle. Think i kept it in the "spirit" of the drawing but it's not exactly as the concept. Hell first time ever not to bad right.
Hey! Thanks man! Jordu is awesome. The last busts are just copies. Hehe uyou lucky guys. Anyway here's something that I did after a digital drawing. Not really finished but good practice. Made a bunch of heads also. I'll keep at it. I'm going to take care of that workshop piece soon.
I'm better painting analog than digitally. There's a free non-commercial version on the site I tried, it's pretty dang nifty and I just dumped the model in and clicked random buttons, I'm using it wrong and it still works real cool even told me where my problem areas were.
btw, Maya has been used in one form or another (heavily modified with mel, or prototype versions of it) in practically every digital effects movie since Jurassic Park. 3DS Max kicks ass and has my respect, as does XSI- but Maya has made a huge, undeniable impact on the CG world.
