Looks awesome! My only critique is that the floor seems unconnected to the rest of the scene. Perhaps some dirt decals under the stove, or along the walls might help tie it in a little better. Everything else looks very polished (in the "finished" sense of the word) and the lighting looks fantastic. Great work!
Sorry for the super duper long delay. Spent a while in China and have been really busy, but getting back into this thing now. Not a whole lot of progress, but trying to make sure everything holds up up-close (it doesn't yet, but will!). I still promise to finish one day :p
Jason manley being the guy who worked on Icewind dale, vampire bloodlines, cofoudned massive black, and has been producing tutorials and educational material for the game art community for almost a decade? Polycount has AWESOME admins, but i definitely wouldnt complain about a guy like that either.
the crate looks nice, but unless you're planning on baking lighting giving everything unique uvs is a bit wasteful. you could make a couple crate side variations and use them, but you dont need 6. you could probably use decals for the stickers too to save space.
Wow! I'm surprised with the amount replies. Wish I get that many on my next crit :P hehe Sorry for the delay folks. Digital Extremes is the studio where my new position is. Very happy to be aboard Stimpack and others that may be from DE. I'm excited to get to work.
must have this game.... though i read rumors the other day that the game has been delayed. the novelization has been pushed until June and Amazon.com has the release date of the game as August 26th . though the Making of/Art book and the RPG supplement are still listed for March releases.
You can have more than 2. Not sure if there is a hard limit or not. Though for most objects, 2 uv channels (assuming the use of a lightmap) should be more than enough. There is the rare occasion of using a 3rd UV channel for grunge textures, decals, or other misc uses. The lower the better.
@AD_3D Thanks! The Viking hall certainly looks interesting too! Maybe a bit too large of a scope for me. But it would be a fun exercise to break the concept down. Will you take it on? If I had time for another one, it would be the sci-fi prop. Assets like that intimidate me a bit, because they seem complex. But on a second…
The model was done by MrD and I did the texture - it uses the specs of DoW and while I don't know the exact number of polygons, I can say it's about 2200 IIRC. Anyways, without further delay here it is: !( a second colorsheme is to be found here: http://www.joust3d.com/MitGas/red.jpg )! And at last the flats: I like this…
So here is my project (almost finished) at week 8. I have 2 more weeks to finish this and i still need to finish lighting the scene. I also just finished the first pass ground texture (no spec or gloss yet). Plus , time permitting, I need to add trash, ground decals, etc. I will also post sample sheets of individual pieces…
