If you guys search you tube there is some okay Nomal map tutorials. But the one that helped me a lot is the one on digital tutors on making a rifle for games in maya, they go through the process of modeling it from start to finish both the High poly and low poly, and then they show thier process for baking it.

Had this problem awhile ago (I think the benefits of age also solved mine). My answer was finding a different hobby and it was physical so I got those adrenaline boosts that I think a lot of people look for in games. And I agree with lazerus on having a clean workspace even if it's digitally.
lots of traditional and digital painting tutorials on youtube. Lots. I like the tutorials from Aaron Blaise a lot. He was an illustrator/animator for many of the classic disney films. Even though I am not doing stylized textures I watch his content a lot just to soak in the art fundamentals.
