Re: What tool(s) do you use to display all your texture maps side-by-side for a portfolio?
To be fair, when I look at portfolios, I just want to see the asset. I don't care much for how the textures look if the output looks cool. The only reason for me to see the texture is to kinda look at the uv map the artist decided to make. See if the model was correctly uvmaped and if there isn't much waste. -

Thanks for the input so far. When I import two different objects that share a UVmap/texture, they come in as two different sub-objects (which I want), but also using two different surface materials (which I don't want). And I can't seem to be able to merge two Surface Materials... -

Thanks! @rollin: We were pushing for scanning, not project management.. has a lot of advantages. Scanned facial poses are great references for animators. Also speeds up the process a little bit. Final sculpting, texturing and modeling still need the same skillset to look good. @JONNYquid: Just uvmap the basemodels, not the… -

Yeah, I messed the UVW map up. Still learning the best methods. I guess in mudbox you're stuck using the UVmap you import with. In Max's RTT you can generate the normal map using almost any UV map. plus RTT seems a bit faster generating the image. thx -

max pelt is some good, but the seam system is very ugly.. i always use the split function in edit poly, its way faster and relax dialog is very importand, because the peltmap alone sucks hard^^ another tool to automate uvmapping were exporting it to obj (with seams) and put it throu unvold3d or something..^^ -

game character workflow
I have been looking at the Making of the giant tutorial. I was looking for different work flows on how to make characters and I was wounding if this work flow was typical in the industry. here is the work flow. the bit that I am confused about is the uvmapping after the zbrush stuff. can anyone unconfuse me
