Well, Floating Points are a Binary Number System used to represent decimal points... there are a number of different precision versions. There's a "Half" it's a 16 bit floating point that has up to ~3 decimal points, a "Float" has about ~7 decimal points, and used 32 bits, and there's a "Double" it's 64 bits and has ~16… -
1200p or 1440p monitors?
I'm in the process of buying some new dual monitors and I'm looking for some advice. Which one of these resolutions is better for game design, 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440? Weareape - Thats most likely due to the fact that your height map at some point became 8 bit and is not 16 bit, resulting in stair stepping. I can imagine that the archaic tool chain of ArmA makes a lot of designers not to apply for work at Bohemia Interactive too. Such a shame really. I'm hoping that Visitor at least has been updated. Never used the old one but it seems awful. But I still hope to make a 16 km * 16 km terrain/map of the area around my childhood… -

I must correct you on this , Crysis island is 16 x 16 kms (256 sq km 98 sq ml ) and Red dead Redemption map is 9 x 8 km (72 sq kms , ca 27 sq ml )... Oblivion map was 40 sq km (10 sq ml ) and the Skyrim map is stated to be about the same size ... -

If i have 4 million model and i divide it one time it will be 8 million nopt 16 million. If i divide 8 million it will be 16 million. I have model with 4 million and i wanted to divide it 1 time that means from 4 million to 8 million. IIt is not related to the memory issue. But thnx for trying to help me. -

@Eric Chadwick Thanks! :) I ended up using metahuman skin material, which I then edited for my needs. I know it's not the best idea, because Metahuman stuff has so much “bloat”, but for this personal project that I aimed to keep short it was good enough. I edited the material by disabling a lot of stuff and inserted my own… -
