Not quite, Ark. I'll have to try a combo of several of these techniques. The sculpting one is closest, but I have limited experience with sculpting apps, so I just need to practice more. I can make the shape you've shown there, Ark. But the problem is how it terminates. it doesn't look like it was wrapped. There's an…
@Pavel7 Where's your attempted example? It is only after you've honestly tried modelling the referenced object without success and posting the result here, a possible solution/s are then offered by others. This thread is not a resource for getting someone else to do all the work for you which in the process of doing so…
HI there guys so I tried modeling this in cinema with splines with no success I thought about marvelous designer but I think there must be a better way less time-consuming way. I need to model the threads on the sofa I attached. EDIT: these are my failed attempts within cinema4d using 2 bodies on 2 splines one as a rail…
Hello guys. I'm working on my own project and i'm trying to workout shapes and how to get this object shape done without having any pinching and having smooth edges around the spherical area. don't mind the different wireframes, it's just me playing around with the edgeflow and trying to figure out the best way to do it. I…
This is what I tried . I also tried adding a shell modifier to it and extruding it in inverse direction and then welding the dark green cylinder. Which didn't help. If i showed you the versions that I have tried , due to welding this edges would be hard to demonstrate . I can't make the other dark green cylinder separate…
Man I'm lovin this thread! One thing that i don't think has been covered (or maybe I missed it) but wrapping objects (repeating meshes etc.) specifically in Maya, bolts or trims etc. I saw this link - http://www.mutantspoon.com/temp/howto01.jpg If anyone can tell me how to do what he did in steps 6 and 7 using maya, I…
It depends?! If for example an ingame asset, I'd utilise an optimised low too high poly smoothing group/chamfer workflow (3ds Max) generating that object... or a pre-renderd static shot, probably grab Blender and indulge in a bit of non-destructive boolean operand machined part oriented modeling... EDIT: Browsing through…
Love the new thread description, still dem shapes was good. Anyhow. I want some help with this sorry i can't post the model geometry won't have access to my computer for a little while. I'm trying to do the intrude on the other side that is on the slope around the trigger guard and the problem is when ever i smooth the…
I would have subdivided by smoothing groups and then cut the details in with the extra geometry. On curved surfaces you generally need more geometry to support details since it defines the shape better. Do this once you're certain the base-mesh is complete. Another option is to create the base mesh and details you want to…
That's easy, just model the pillar straight and then use a lattice/FFD modifier to slant them. It would be easier for you if you separated the horizontal beams from the pillar as well. I pretty much always try to build my highpoly objects as they would be in reality so if something's separate on the real thing it should be…
