Wow! Who would have thought so much good advice in one place! Pretty much agree with it all. I use a plain ol' dining room chair. It's not conducive to sitting back so when working I tend to sit up with no contact cept th butt. Maybe that would help.
I really like your thought process, as for the metal i also thought that it look like pewter and worked with a corresponding reference, others like brass/copper i just basically changed the color (shame on me). Not sure if i will dig that deep and start it from ground zero, although on the other side it's just the…
Notes about a modular workflow: Seen here is two minor variations on the same texture. As I work on texturing each character, I keep very meticulous layers inside Substance Painter, and I separate channels completely. For instance, the redness in the second image is a separate layer sitting on top of the splotchy yellow…
Yes, I'd suggest seeing if you can sit in on some life drawing classes. Typically schools allow you to sit in, or "audit", a class you've already taken. It would also be a good idea to get a small sketchbook with you and sketch as much as possible, you can get Moleskines that are small enough to fit in your pocket.
I like it white - it made me think that it lives in some really dark place and has never seen sunlight. Suits with the absence of eyes. But yeah, some dirt would be nice. But really, wouldn't you like to sculpt sth between his legs? At least some saggy skin or sth like that perhaps... or perhaps not :P
Well, guys, thank you so much for your sincere words! I was kind of thinking that I was on the safe side with these portfolio but I see I was wrong! Took me a while to digest the comments and realize that yeah I have a lot of work to do before applying anywhere! And do really appreciate the time you guys took to check on…
It sounds like you need a "flatter" hierarchy rather than a "deeper" one. I don't think I have any more than 3 levels of folders in my bookmarks. Let's take a look (abridged version): Edu Subject specific subfolders (Math, Psychology, Game Design, Science, Law, etc..) Podcasts/InterviewsBusiness Marketing Payment…
Of course, I wouldn't just be shearing off the ends in the sculpt, so I spent some time shifting some tentacles around to my new measurements and then some final sculpting. And here is the finished sculpt: Next, I'd focus on hollowing the model by using a dynamesh shell and then decimating it to meet the Shapeways upload…
The ref picture posted in the thread is a Russian capture K98. When the Russians captured them and re-arsenaled them (mixing up all the parts in the process, taking tiny hammers to all the swastikas etc) they also painted all the metal black. The original issue K98s had the metal "in the white", which is to say unpainted.…
I've actually pondered this for a long time and in short, no I don't think 3D art is very timeless. I'm not saying that I haven't seen breathtaking 3D art work, but it's not like the MoMA in NYC has 3D lithographs on display.. I think there is a glowy feeling from looking at an original painting and not a printed copy that…
