Aha! see, way better already! It's hard to say whether you should work big or small to practice -- small FORCES you to ignore detail, which is very very good, but big is generally way easier to deal with in digital formats. edit: pow! Not very good painting, but hopefully this helps/clarifies what ive been saying a bit.
I would also strongly recommend two digital books, which are actually a must for everyone who deal with faces: 1) The Art Of Moving Points by Brian Tindall 2) Anatomy Of Facial Expression by Uldis Zarins Making a face rig isn't about kinda fancy techs, but understanding the anatomy. If you don't know it, tech won't help.
Gnomon Workshop as probably some of the best DVD's on character animation. Eat3D has a DVD on facial animation for games. Digital Tutors cover alot of the basic and fundamentals. Animation Mentor supposed to be really good and pricey! Art of Rigging books seem to be well respected as well. Maybe someone who's in animating…
@ Jeff Pfft, neither am I. @ alf Naw, just my digital camera and some photoshop cleanup. @ Gannon Shoot, you're absolutely right. Exactly the kind of thing I forget about in the heat of drawing. Definitely the statues are full 3d, I'm just looking at the rock and the trees. Some of the rock borders are just too smooth to…
I am working full time on my portfolio at the moment so you could say its non professional. I dont have a job at the moment and i am luck enough to be able to do this as i have funds to last me a couple of years. I have made money from art but not digital 3d stuff.
The sticker looks much better than the stamp you had, but I worry about the "humor" elements this early in the model. Imagine putting the icing on a cake that was undercooked and lacked any sugar. The analogy is meant to demonstrate the importance of nailing the material definition before adding the flair. But thank…
http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_showvideo.php?v=56 I highly recommend this tutorial it walks you through creating a digital clock that reads the system time to display the correct time in game. it is very strait forward and simple enough for even a beginner in unreal script and materials. it would be pretty easy to…
Same! God I LOVE the work they do so much. A huge reason I am such a big fan of Ratchet and Clank is the universe they have created with there amazing style. Crazy that there are not many copies left you can get, its only been like 11days and they soon will totally sell out of all categories except the digital PDF's ha.

Steady, the first two were done in Painter 9. I used the default Digital Airbrush settings at varying sizes and opacity. The last two were done in Photoshop CS. I used the default Hard Round brush at varying opacities with a flow of 70% (stole the Prometheus' brush settings, actually.) And of course, everything was painted…
