I'd use the one 2k texture over the two 1k textures, because it's the same amount of memory and it's easier to recall one map rather than two leading to better performance as well.
Also, the amount of stylistic and non-photorealistic games released each year vastly outnumber the realistic ones. I think photorealisitic rendering is a lovely feat and very interesting, but it's not going to replace anything.

so normal grayscale tessellation/displacement only stores displacementamounts and displaces according to the surface normal while vector displacement holds a direction and length/amount in which the displacement needs to happen right?
My SSD died as it was like a GEN 1 where there was a limited amount with read and writes but the newer gen SSD's have programs where you can restore them back to their factory state.

I have had this - using a wacom helps also trying to eliminate the amount of things you do with your right hand helps. Things like shortcuts and using other input devices.
