where towards the rear? the whole thing is designed to transform... sentry turret mode and fast flight mode or w/e, still yet to do the central mechanism and cannon, second i grab a quick render of the 2 forms.. so the whole central piece collapses in, when its open a cannon will emerge through the front the back pieces… -

The inward barrel (left) will fit a big bang cannon gun more. The outward (right) kinda reminds me of a silencer ... or those large caliber sniper cannons. Dont be afraid to add some geometry to your hard edges to break up those hard lines. Your walls and cannon bases are very straight and hard lined. Rock walls can have some great silhouettes if you break it up. Also, in the 3rd picture, on the side of the wall, where it dips down for the cannon, you have some stretching in… -

Progress update. I struggled through the texturing of the ribs and ship, since I couldn't use tile-able textures, and because I needed to save on texture size -- but now the ships walls are ready to be destroyed by enemy cannon fire. I worked on the plasma cannon today. Harder than I first thought. Keeping a curved surface while cutting is just something you gotta love :) Solution is more geo most of the time.
