Make sure you are exporting mesh normals if using obj out of max. If you baked your normal map in max, you might need to invert the green channel of the normal map. You still may get some issues due to differences in tangent space. Toolbag 2 supports max's tangent space and will give you better results.
Hello! I'm currently learning 3DS Max, and I have chosen to render using Arnold. As someone coming from Cinema 4D, where Ambient Occlusion is achieved with the press of one button, Ambient Occlusion has been an absolute pain to get to work in 3DS Max and Arnold. Unlike Cinema 4D, which seemingly has global Ambient…
I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a 3ds max script to do this. Basically, the problem I have is I have this super complicated mesh that has uvs off the 1to1 space. There is like 12x12 tiles off uv space so all 100 and some spaces have there own textures. I don't have the original files and it would take forever to…
I didn't rebake your normal map when I tested it, I just used the one you sent. Since all the normals were softened it didn't look 100% correct, but I could at least tell that there wasn't any random seams. I'm a maya guy, so I really can't help you with normals in max. I can't tell if they look correct in your max…

This is not my model, it's someone else's that I am modding to fit my…

Feels un-bloated - Max for me has slowly become more and more filled with tools i just don't use and modo is generally more trimmed and has the basics I need. Tools…
