Alright! Thanks for all the help, I reckon I'm doing this for the fun AND the cashes... Yeeeeees! I shrank down the 1024's to 512's, and it looks the same! Swish! Losing the extra poly's however didn't look so good, think I'm gonna put them back... also going to add a "muzzle flash" type thing... COMING SOON!
Thanks guys! I scaled up the gun a bit and started working on the uv´s and texture. Here´s a first pass on the head. I used a photo for the base and started painting over it, the nose and hair need a bit more attention but i´m quite happy with how it came out so far. Of course crits & comments are still welcome.

WOuld be in if it wasn´t for me being lazy and doing shitloads of other things at the moment. Hardly even have time to write on PC. :(

hey ho.. i´m wondering if there's some kind of a fix for the problem, that max starts to get very slow with "edged faces" enabled or some way to increase the speed at least a little bit it seems to me that the count of objects is more important to the speed drop than the actual polycount it´s not that i can´t…
The pouches on the belt would require a different approach. Add a new bone (per pouch, or one shared by both), and link it to the nearest spine bone. Weight the belt pouches mostly to the new bone(s), and animate the bone(s) for secondary flapping motion. The tops of the pouches you may want to weight a bit to the spine…
