WIP: Medieval House

I post a lot of enemy concepts, but this time I have some human NPCs to show. They are made of modular pieces, easy to combine and make use of the same animations. A lot of the other human NPCs have the same type of structure but with even more pieces, and I'll be posting those pretty soon as well. -

I totally agree with you, the project is 1 year old, definitely it needs a remake :) One technical question concerning the floor. When it comes to create a floor with a missing chunk(s) as you mentioned, what is the best technical approach to model it? should I model it as one piece? Or modular? Many thanks, -

There's some modularity which didn't make it to the presentation shots. For example, it's possible to remove the flak vest and equipment. Also I made a bandaged version for the head. The weapon has some moveable parts. Maybe it would be cool to have a cutscene where he cleans or dissemble his weapon while being dismissed! -

forget MEL - look at Python. Python is extremely powerful in Maya and you can do a lot with it, depending on your pipeline / task. If you want to go into that direction you can investigate script based scene assembly systems, how scripts can help with modular environment workflows or with baking maps and exporting.
