Really great work! I agree with you on the door looking weird. The windows on the doors look nice but the doors don't look like doors because there are no doorknobs or hinges and the trim blends in really well with the wood of the door almost making them feel like cabinets.
@BIGTIMEMASTER So here is what I did by following the tutorial I'm watching : 1/ In Maya : So I built my door into Maya : http://prntscr.com/k839ds Then I "separated" all the pieces of the door because in the tutorial it was said that each part needed to be UVed individually : http://prntscr.com/k839og I selected all the…
@Jessica Dinh: I will post a bunch of reference images when I get home from class, the images are mostly inspiration, I'm not really designing straight from a scene or background. @nathanbarrett Thanks dude! And I'll try not to repeat what the show did for this scene lol @zakhar2 Yeah, now that I look at it, it kinda does…
@moose: Yeah there are several coats of polyurethane. @ispheria and @battlecow: haha yeah it's a macpro. @Kwramm: I don't remember exactly what I go but it was I think about $68. Below is a link to a bunch of them. What you want is a solid core door. Note though they are extremely heavy. It's a two person moving job.…
Is that Doom? if yes, don't they use mega textures? That means dynamic mip mapping, everything around gets quickly mipped, leaving you enough material resolution for that door... I could be wrong, but that's what sounds like to me.
So yea this is what I mean by dated. First lets talk about materials and texturing. Here is Doom 3 Geometry and resolution differences aside notice the constant gloss value across everything, and the low detailed spec map. Also notice how the metal is not reflecting anything in the scene. Here are a few assets from your…
are you still basing this off your original ref photo, ie an english terrace street? Seems to be you're basing the designs of the houses of the american architecture you're more used to rather than digging out some detailed ref, most of it doesn't apply and it's really unconvincing the doors seem to be ornate oak doors off…
Well if that door isn't going to be opened, you could close that hole, re-use that wall and just overlay the door frame and door over the wall bits. If you want to get REALLY modular (Always look for ways to reuse!) you could even make the door a separate mesh and re use the door frame as window frame too :)
Hey guys, what's crackin? I've decided to try something a bit different to my usual. I have teamed up with a mate who is learning to code in UE4 and we are trying to recreate the first level of Doom 2. Secrets, bad dudes and all. The focus for me is to get better at UE4, get better at level building and just get faster…
Hi, So far you are doing a really good job of sticking to the original concept. I did want to highlight an issue with it as there are some elements in the concept which are off in relation to scale. The green door to me looks too wide and I'd expect it to have proportions more like this:…
